A brief history

Loma Portal sits on land that forms part of the broader Point Loma peninsula, historically connected to Kumeyaay use and later Spanish, Mexican, and American settlement around San Diego Bay.

The neighborhood developed substantially in the 1920s and 1930s, with many Spanish Revival and period-style homes built as San Diego expanded westward and the automobile shaped residential growth.
